Great Lakes Folk Festival
The Great Lakes Folk Festival (www.greatlakesfolkfest.net) was a tremendous success. The people who came together to present this free festival in downtown East Lansing deserve a lot of praise. The weather cooperated, the music was fantastic, the food delightful, and the volunteers were some of the most helpful and pleasant people we have ever had the honor to meet.
Our heartfelt thanks to all of them for allowing us to participate.
Here are some pictures of our little corner of the festival...

The steamboat and Bob were the best draw |

Bob explaining how he cut out the brass pieces and also demonstrating his nailing machine |
"Just can't quite get my head inside, but I'm trying!" |

"Look, Mom! There's an engine inside!" |
It's that steamboat again! Look at the intense expressions... |

| Vicki Lou helping Bob explain why her boat didn't make the trip across Lake Michigan! |
Samples of brass cutouts and rejected parts helped viewers to understand how the parts are cut and put together. |
Vicki Lou seemed to draw the biggest crowds. Perhaps because of her pretty hair? |

| Edward Kuznia, Model boat builder from Richmond, Michigan. Ed was next to our setup and modeled Great Lakes Freighters. His work was smaller, but very detailed and well built. |
Bob Summers, Builder and preserver of bamboo fishing rods, from Traverse City, Michigan. Bob was next to Ed on our side of the tent. He is a master craftsman and his bamboo fishing rods are world class! |
